Positive Energy!

The GGB’s are psyched for racing in 2010!

We have an adventure racing series, mini-triathlon and a couple half marathons all lined up and penned in on the calendar. Once something is penned in, it’s really hard to skip the 5 mile run after work and watch The Bachelor instead.

Kristen has been doing some intense cross training and race visualization techniques. As she is running her 30+ flights of stairs, she envisions us climbing the mountains in PA with our mountain bikes in tow. While swimming her laps in the local university’s pool, she imagines backstroking likes she’s never backstroked before in a muddy lake wearing a PFD. I hope to join in on the fun next week, then we can strategize together about our new and improved navigation techniques, and also think about our end-of-the-race sprints to the finish while wearing PINK JERSEY’s (and something green too, of course)!

This morning before work, we went to a yoga class with our friend and GGB supporter, Lauren. Yoga in the morning is something else – it really wakes up your body, gets the limbs stretched, and the giddiness of a good sweat lasts long into the day. I feel our training has really diversified. We’re now doing yoga, stairs, swimming, spinning, boxing, and of course the long runs and bike rides. Also, I definitely think we’re stronger mentally. We have a new confidence and we’re ready to take on any challenges presented.

Warm weather is right around the corner and we can’t wait to put on our new jerseys, headlights, high socks, hydration packs and show those other racers what we’re made of!!!!

2010 is looking great and we’re going to keep you updated about the highs and the lows, but hopefully only highs! Thanks for the support :)

Pink Jersey's??!!

Hello Bloggers, Sorry for the long winter hibernation! but the Green Gov Beasts are back for a few races this summer! and we may just be talked into the racing series by frank! All he really had to say was "Pink Jersey's".

Lisa and I had talked over the winter about commiting to a few races this summer and to sort of decide as they came up, we decided on what races to attend, with Grad school, weddings, and possibly a move to NYC committing to the series wouldn't be the best idea for this summer.

Then we wrote to frank...

I told Frank due to scheduling conflicts we would be around for some races..but not the series...and here is what he wrote back (he know's just how to reel us back in!):

Green Gov Beasts,
We've been thinking about you two a lot. We are very happy to hear you
will be joining us for at least a few races! When I read your email I am
counting and hoping that the total races that you will complete equals
three. We value having a competitive female category and you two help to
make that happen. This year's series already has three all female teams
in it, and we would love to have you join that field. Let me know what
we can do to make that happen. Don't forget that all you need to compete
in the series is three races. You site the HVAC, SORCAR, and "some races later in the summer". That makes three!
Also--this year we are planning to have leader jerseys in each of the
categories. We have BLAZE in yellow (overall), Batty Boys in blue (male), Spang in green (Co-Ed), and we need a female team to wear pink. Twisted
Sister has dis-assembled so we were hoping to have you in pink. I know
that is against your Green Gov Beast "attire"..... but we were hoping!
Let me know if you can committ to three races and I will do what I can to
get you into the series!!

Frank

Pink Jersey's frank worn by the GGB's! The three other female teams would be chasing us!! How fun! I always wanted to be Lance Armstrong with the yellow jersey. A Pink Jeresey with Green Governor Beast written across the back is 10 million times better!

Lisa and I decided to go over our schedule on Monday and decide if you can commit to the series and just maybe where those pink jersey's with pride...We will keep you posted!
