The GGB’s are psyched for racing in 2010!
We have an adventure racing series, mini-triathlon and a couple half marathons all lined up and penned in on the calendar. Once something is penned in, it’s really hard to skip the 5 mile run after work and watch The Bachelor instead.
Kristen has been doing some intense cross training and race visualization techniques. As she is running her 30+ flights of stairs, she envisions us climbing the mountains in PA with our mountain bikes in tow. While swimming her laps in the local university’s pool, she imagines backstroking likes she’s never backstroked before in a muddy lake wearing a PFD. I hope to join in on the fun next week, then we can strategize together about our new and improved navigation techniques, and also think about our end-of-the-race sprints to the finish while wearing PINK JERSEY’s (and something green too, of course)!
This morning before work, we went to a yoga class with our friend and GGB supporter, Lauren. Yoga in the morning is something else – it really wakes up your body, gets the limbs stretched, and the giddiness of a good sweat lasts long into the day. I feel our training has really diversified. We’re now doing yoga, stairs, swimming, spinning, boxing, and of course the long runs and bike rides. Also, I definitely think we’re stronger mentally. We have a new confidence and we’re ready to take on any challenges presented.
Warm weather is right around the corner and we can’t wait to put on our new jerseys, headlights, high socks, hydration packs and show those other racers what we’re made of!!!!
2010 is looking great and we’re going to keep you updated about the highs and the lows, but hopefully only highs! Thanks for the support :)

Ultimate fit-betty bodies in the summer of 2009 - will we be in even better shape this summer?

Lisa you forgot to mention that when you are in boxing class you are visualizing beating the branches to the ground while we are bush-wacking through the mountian of PA.
ReplyDeleteI will fist pump when you guys cross the finish line!
