NYC Half Marathon!


The Half Marathon was a great success! Our friend Lauren and I ran hard and enjoyed ourselves. The weather was perfect, and the course even better!

Confession: L - 2008 - K!! i have a VERY EMBARRASSING CONFESSION and i almost don't want to write it.. but i'm just feeling so sick that i have to tell you. ok, so i made a bad decision during lunch, after i picked up my prescription at CVS, the Mcdonalds is really close, and i went through the drive through.

"One Month Away" excitement and Confessions!

One month until our first adventure race of the season!!

One month until a special GGB turns the big 2-7!!!!


One month until we see Frank, Bethann and all our racing "friends" again!!

One month until we lay our eyes upon the oh so great and always coveted pink leader jerseys, which secured our committment to the series!!


We only have one month until we have to mountain bike up hills and over rocks, run through the brush in our high socks, and navigate our way into the forest then back out!!! Very exciting, but also a little scary.... I wonder what the other all female teams will look like? Will they be "in it to win it" or will they be competing just for fun? Are the pink jerseys just so Frank has an easier way of spotting the end of the pack? half jk half jk This is a new GGB this year and we have a lot to prove!

So...we'd better amp up our training!

Kristen will be in NYC this weekend running a half marathon, then next week we have cross training scheduled and a long bike ride! We rocked a 2 miler and 5 miler race last weekend which really boosted our confidence levels!! It's also time to get the bikes out of storage, give them some love and re-build our friendship with them. At the end of last season, we agreed it was best if we didn't see each other for awhile...

Lastly, I would like to propose a new tradition in our blogging posts. At the end of each blog, I want to include something the GGB's call a "confession". It's something we did or want to do, that we're not so proud of. A lot of the time the confession involves food or working out. It's usually a couple lines that we have written in an email to each other, and recently Kristen discovered there has been quite a few over the last 3 years.

K - 2008 - Confession...I had a treat from the vending!!, and it was ok...it wasn't even great! I wanted a reeses fast break and instead I got a Reeses whipped bar because it said it had 40% less fat...at least that was a good thing... I guess...

We started 2010 off STRONG!!

Our Cross Training session last Friday couldn't have been better. We pushed hard and worked out for a solid 90 minutes...ugh!! We met with Elisa (AKA "speedy"), she really pushed us and made us go harder then I thought was possible. We started with 20 minutes of stairs (envisioning the PA green lush mountain tops), then we used the spinning bikes for 20 minutes, jump roped and did ABs for 20 minutes, and Lisa and I finished it off with 30 minutes of laps and treading! Its the kind of training we need to be doing this season, the GGB's are really stepping things up this season, and we are pretty excited about it!

On Sunday Morning Lisa and I met for a 9 mile run. Which went REALLY great as well. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a FANTASTIC run, our run made me feel very confident going into the 5 mile race this weekend and the half marathon next weekend. There was only one small fall during the run, lisa slipped on a grouchy patch of black ice, I actually slipped on the same spot and almost fell on top of her, but fierce Lisa picked herself, and up dusted herself off smiled a little smile and we continued on our way (No lip Snarl! YAY!)! For the second half of our run the sun was really shining and we both got a little sun burnt on our faces :)!

Its going to be a fun competitive season! I can feel it!

Power Yoga:
Thursday/Friday

Friday 90 minute XT:
20 minutes – running stairs
20 minutes – spinning (alternating sit and stand positions)
20 minutes Jump Rope/Ab Circuit (45 seconds on 15 seconds off)
Swim Laps – 2x25, 4x25, 6x25, 4x25, 2x25
Swim Treading – 15 minutes

Sunday Morning:
9 miles long run
Goal : Even comfortable pace

This season it’s the GGB’s goal to be a strong competitive team, we want to train hard and be ready for our 3rd Adventure racing season (3rd times the CHARM!)!
